There is no permanent congregation of the Lord’s people meeting in the old mining town of Silverton, Colorado. Yet, the church has had a presence in the community for over forty years. There is a small church building located at the north end of town and this is opened for Bible study and Worship each summer by the congregation in Durango. Men from Durango go up to Silverton for teaching and preaching beginning the first Sunday in June and continuing through Labor Day or the first Sunday in September.
Summer visitors to the Silverton area attend these studies and worship assemblies. Attendance can vary from one or two up to about forty. Contributions are put into a special Silverton church of Christ account in Durango and are used solely for building upkeep and providing utilities.
